Accessing contacts with IOS 26.1

That sounds like you're searching from the phone app and not the contact app.

When searching contacts from phone app, it will find contact and you call directly.

If you search in the contact apps, it will show contact information.

If you press the search button, and search for someone, you will get results listed under two categories, "Calls" and below that "Contacts".

If you tap on the entry under "Calls," it will take you to the call list. If you tap on the one under "Contacts", it will take you to the contact entry. Yes, the contact entry screen looks a little different than it used to, I believe.

You have to swipe down to see everything else.

That is correct that is how it works when you search from the phone app.

Go to the contacts app, search for it if you can't find it, then search your contacts and it will show you their info.

No it doesn't I've tested this with my phone and other iphones if you go to the CONTACT APP, not the phone app, and you do a search you get you the contacts information not Call.

If you go to phone app, contact - search contact then you get the call feature.

You go directly to that icon - contacts app.
