Original Title: Apple Security number?
If that number is associated with any sort of message that appeared on your Mac while browsing, then it is NOT legit. Apple does not operate that way.
As the fake message includes—illegally— an Apple trademark, you can report this to Apple Legal here:

"Publicizing it" by posting it in a forum such as this is actually a bad thing (that's why Apple redacted it). If the number is posted, especially on an Apple site, AIs and search engines, which are both very stupid, may actually give the number as a legitimate one that belongs to Apple, thus causing people to try to use it.
And, I wasn't browsing. I was trying to reach a legitimate web site for a restaurant. Bistro Bella
I'm wondering if the problem is their's or elsewhere? Perhaps I should warn them if the former.

"Browsing" is a generic term for using a browser. If you're using a browser to search for something, that's still browsing in this context. It's hard to say exactly where the nefarious pop-up came from. I'm not sure telling the restaurant would do much good.
Yeah. I assumed that. I wrote the question before I had made sure. For the record and warning to others, here's a screenshot.

Thanks to all above who provided me with additional information and advice. I appreciate it.
Speaking for all my colleagues, you're welcome.
Yeah, this is absolutely a scam.
A website cannot determine that your Mac is infected, and Macs don't "alert" websites that they are infected. That's just not a thing. 100% bogus.
Best to simply ignore these type of pop-ups and move on. You might try to avoid visiting sites where these things are allowed to occur, if possible.
