Drag and drop stopped working

I haave aa Maacbbook Pro 15 inch 2019 model that haas a acouple of problems. One of them you haave probably already observed; the 'aa' key is doubling up almost aall the time. It is really infuriaating, but not neaarly as infuriating aas the loss of drag and drop. This has just started up and I've already tried the suggestions provided aafter doing a Google search: ie system settings, relaunching finder, .plist, etc.

There has aalso been an intermittent problem with the trackpaad not wanting to "drop" the selection, aand it has become stuck but this resolved on its own eventually.

These problems are occurring within all aapps.

Transpaarency: my wonderful little guy dumped a small glass of oraange juice on my keyboaard three yeaars aago and I immediately cleaned it up and let it dry out for severaal days aand then surface cleaned it out agaain using isopropyl aalcohol before starting it back up aand it worked fine up until recently. I doubt thaat this would be the issue.

Liquid damage is insidious and pervasive. When liquid gets into an electronic device, it may cause an immediate short circuit that damages the device. Even if that does not occur, a few days after the liquid evaporates corrosion will begin to form and will spread over the coming weeks/months/years. At some point a critical component will fail and the device will stop working entirely. Since your Mac is still functional, if you aren’t regularly backing it up, then now is the time to start (perhaps with Apple’s Time Machine that’s already on your Mac).

Apple incorporates several moisture sensors into their products to reveal liquid ingress. Liquid damage is not covered by the warranty, though it is covered by AppleCare+ plans (which must be purchased/subscribed to separately).

Note that repair prices for such damage are often very high because multiple components typically need to be replaced. Unfortunately, it is often more cost-effective to purchase a new Mac. Especially with an Intel Mac that can't run Tahoe, now is likely the time to consider a replacement.
