Number of additional displays a Macbook Air 13 M4 can manage

How many displays at once is a Macbook Air 13 M4 capable of managing? Have been seeing conflicting information suggesting that it can handle two additional screens PLUS the laptop display or that it can only do two external monitors with the laptop lid closed. (My preferred Win-PC configuration has been left-external / laptop / right external.)

You probably saw some site that was talking about M3 MacBook Airs.

M1 & M2 MacBook Air - one external display, whether the lid is open or closed.

M3 MacBook Air - one external display with lid open; two with it closed. The chip still can only drive two active displays, but the machine can reallocate resources normally needed for the internal display when the lid is closed.

M4 MacBook Air - two external displays with the lid open.
