For some reason out of the blue I can no longer hold down on my left mouse side and highlight text to copy or cut. Any ideas?

Try booting into Safe Mode then restart normally. Sometimes that will fix anomalies.
Does it work when using the right-side of your mouse? If so, check the System Settings > Mouse panel and change Secondary click to [ Click Right Side ↕︎ ]
I tried rebooting and that did not help, thanks for the reply though.
