Screen replacement after 12 months, Apple not willing to cover cost.

Display on my MacBook Pro 16” M3 max went dark a couple of days ago. While it is still backlit objects appear very blurry and are no longer recognisable. Apple authorised service provider checked the machine as follows:

unit turns on

Display working intermittently

Connected external Display

Ran MRI,Passed

Ran Full System Diagnostic, Passed

need to open the machine

opened machine

checking for damage

no damage found inside

display works for brief moment and then goes blank”

Service centre now say the screen needs to be replaced. Apple is not willing to replace the part at their cost, yes the one year warranty expired 27 days ago, and screen cost is over 30% of the machine’s price. Surprises me that hardware fails in such a short time and Apple isn’t prepared to cover this. Has anyone else experienced this?

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 26.1
