Touch ID stopped working on iPhone 6s Plus

My touch id stopped working on my iPhone 6s Plus why ???

6s Plus was introduced in September 2015, so your phone may be as much as 10+ years old.

The screen is very likely failing. Apple may or may not still have replacement screens in stock if you want to consider repairs.

If so, make an appointment at the Apple Store / Genius Bar or take the phone to an authorized Apple service shop to let them check and test the phone. You can find a list of authorized shops in your area using this link:

Follow these steps. Try using Touch ID after each step:

1. Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS or iPadOS.

2. Make sure that your fingers and the Touch ID sensor are clean and dry.* For the Touch ID sensor, use a clean, lint-free cloth to wipe off any dirt or debris.

3. Your finger should cover the Touch ID sensor completely, touching the surrounding metal ring. While Touch ID is scanning, you shouldn't tap too quickly or move your finger around.

4. If you're using a case or screen protector, make sure it doesn't cover the Touch ID sensor or the surrounding ring.

5. Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and make sure that iPhone Unlock or iTunes & App Store is on, and that you've enrolled one or more fingerprints.

6. Try enrolling a different finger.

If you can use a passcode to get into your phone, go to Settings > Touch ID and delete the fingerprint you have entered and enter a new one. This worked for us on the only occasion we had issues with Touch ID.

To disable Touch ID on your iPhone or iPad go to Settings then Touch ID & Passcode. Enter your passcode and then turn off Touch ID for all the options.
