MacBook low battery notification not showing

MacBook low battery notification not showing. Earlier, whenever battery percentage used to hit 10% mark, there would be low battery pop up, and it used to be there until I acknowledge it. Now there's no warning at all. I checked everything from DO NOT DISTURB to Notifications settings. I couldn't find any solution. Please help.

Low Battery alerts now depend on Battery settings + Focus modes + Notification delivery rules, AND Apple changed how these alerts work in newer macOS versions.

Most often, ONE of the following is blocking the alert:

  • “Optimized Battery Charging” timing
  • A Focus mode auto-activating
  • Silent notification style
  • Alert banner type set to None
  • Power Nap / sleep behavior

Please get the facts right instead of a " Blanket " statement

That or provide links to supporting documentations from Apple that will support these claims

What is not supported by evidence

  • There is no official documentation from Apple suggesting that low-battery alerts are intentionally now governed by the combination of “Battery settings + Focus modes + Notification delivery rules.” Apple’s official guides show that battery settings control things like Low Power Mode or showing battery percentage/ status in menu bar, not notification thresholds. Apple Support+1
  • Similarly, Apple’s notifications settings (for apps and system alerts) don’t list a “Batteries / Low battery” category that users can toggle on or off. In a recent user case running macOS 14.4.1 (on M2 Mac), one user noted there was no “Batteries” entry under Notifications. Apple Support Community
  • There’s no public indication from Apple that they deliberately changed “how low-battery alerts work” in a structured, documented way — at least not in macOS release notes or support docs.

I've been having the same issue! When i updated to tahoe it started showing the low battery warning non stop, then it went back to the old warning ui, and now it only shows up when it is at around 2% making me panic because most of the times I'm doing something importing. I got confused with the comments on this, so if u happen to know why this happens please let me know cause i want it fixed.

2 % warning ?

You always use a Third Party application to ge Battery Warning

That would be a very good indicator to plug in the computer to the battery charger is it not

Apple Batteries are Lithium batteries that should not be allowed to discharge to 0 ( zero )

Doing so, may even shorten the life of the battery to the point where the battery will need servicing

General Rule of Thumb

Use the computer connected to the electrical as often as there is electrical outlets available

Use the computer on Battery Power when there is no outlets or when you are mobile / traveling
