No XProtect updates since Nov 11 when version 2023 downloaded via iCloud. Does anyone know why?

Read the information provided here:

  • Apple issues the updates for XProtect automatically based on the latest threat intelligence available. By default, macOS checks for these updates daily.

There is no weekly schedule of updates you should expect, so there is nothing for you to worry about.

  • The first update of this year happened on Jan 15, which was 28 days after the previous.
  • Feb 26 update was 21 days later
  • May 14 update was 21 days later
  • Some of the other updates were just a day or two after a previous update.

There is just no rhyme or reason on any sense of a schedule on when they will be released and as the support document says they are issued based on the latest threat intelligence available. Unless you actively keep track of the latest version, you would never even know when they are updated. Apple does not provide us or anyone else with the details on when you can expect the next update, so I would not expect you would get an answer to a "why" question in the terms of length of time between updates.

Sorry - I made a mistake on the date in my original post. I also have update 5323 which was made on Nov 12th, as noted above. But there have been no updates since the 12th. They had been almost weekly prior to the 12th. Does anyone have an explanation for the lack of updates since Nov 12th?

On my MacBook Pro with Sequoia 15.7.2 Nov 12 version 5323 was the last XProtect update.

Why would you worry about this when in fact you do have the latest XProtect update? The same update as was applied on Owl-53's Tahoe Mac and on my Sequoia Mac. I think this is a non-issue.
