New iPhone ios 26.1 update battery issues

So i work for indirect Verizon sales in the past week i have had about 25 people with iPhones that updated to ios 26.1 and the battery wont charge past 1% and the message about non apple battery pops up. I have seen this on iPhone 15,16,17 series phones.

steps i have taken

force restart the phone
try different cables and blocks

3.MagSafe charging

4. eventually i just call customer service and have the phone warrantied.

any fixes or solutions would be nice

You would be surprised on how many people still take their phones to a third party repair shop to have their battery replaced with a non genuine part. There are firmware hacks that can be used on the battery controller to circumvent the battery warning on the device, but it is just a cat/mouse game where Apple will eventually close that loophole and the non genuine battery warning will return. I would not expect this to be the case on any iPhone 17, but certainly a 2-3 year old model may have had the battery replaced.

If I’m right, then the batteries inside the iPhones are not official Apple batteries. Maybe the batteries inside the iPhones are cheap ones, and what can you do for now or something idk is to change the batteries inside all the phones (which will cost a lot of money) or recycle the iPhones. Im not a expert so im trying my best to help 😔
