iPhone 17 Pro side button issue with Apple Pay

Question

I have an iPhone 17 Pro and I’m trying to get Apple Pay to work, but when I double click the side button it just turns off the phone

It’s on by default. Do you want to disable it? Do you have any payment methods added to your Apple Wallet app?

To show the double click slider is grayed out and if that matters
