QR sign in every time since 2 Apple TVs in use

We just purchased a second AppleTV 4K for the other room, but we’ve noticed that several apps force a full sign in via QR code any time we switch between each AppleTV.

Looking for a permanent solution to this, as it’s very frustrating.

I wonder if it’s related to the initial set up and the new one is a carbon copy of the old, so perhaps a cache refresh on both will resolve it?

The only thing it would copy is the “One Home Screen” where you match the layout of Apps to display the same. It should keep the sign in credentials to use again. I’ve just set up another ATV 4K and not experiencing this. I am signed in with the same user account in both.

Have you updated the software to tvOS 26.1 on the new ATV?

Tried restarting it?

Deleted and reinstalled the troublesome Apps?

Are they both on the same wifi (if using)? Some Apps may need to know you’re using the same household, Netflix will sign you out of one if the other got signed in as the “new household” using another wifi address or IP.

So all software and apps were up to date already on both systems… and it has magically stopped requesting the QR log in. I suspect it had to do with an update that needed to be done on the new one that wasn’t. Perhaps in the last day or so it has updated and no longer has the issue?

I tested by having the same app running on both units, no need to QR on either.
