There is no sound output from web content, e.g., online interviews, after upgrade from os Sequioa to os Tahoe 26.1. Please note: although the device is named "Adam's MacBook Air (2)" it is actually a MacMini M2pro (2023).

Is this a known problem with a known fix?

Mac mini, macOS 26.1

Thanks. It wasn't Tahoe's fault. Some more poking around led to discovering that the Play and volume controls I thought were active, were actually not, and I was quickly able to activate them. Voila, sound again.

One more point, though it was tangential to your question. I suspect you migrated from a MacBook Air to a Mac Mini and the old computer name carried over. If there's another computer with the same name on the network (in this case, likely the previous computer), macOS adds a number to the name.

You can edit that in System Settings > General > About, click on the Name field and you can name the Mac whatever you want (Adam's Mac Mini or something else).
