Apple TV app shows black screen with audio

I'm running Tahoe 26.1 on a 2023 16-in MacBook Pro M3 Max 36 GB.

Ever since updating to Tahoe, the native Apple TV app does not show a picture when playing anything back. I hear the audio, and see captions, but the screen/window is black. I've rebooted a number of times and signed out and back in to my Apple TV account. All other video apps work fine.

Does this happen on the MacBook Pro’s built-in screen (it shouldn’t), or on an external monitor (it could, when the connection doesn’t support HDCP)?

Could it be that screen recording software or hardware is active (including screen mirroring) (try removing or deactivating)?

I ask because the described symptoms match what would happen due to DRM blocking.

Else please wait for other suggestions, or contact the official Apple Support staff.
