How to downgrade from iOS 26 to a previous version on iPhone?

Hi there, my phone has updated to the new IOS 26 over night and I am looking for ways to revert it back to the old IOS that I had prior. I’m not a fan of the glassy look in the apps and the appearance of it. It makes me not want to use my phone at all and consider switching to a different provider even though I’ve always been an apple user and would hate to switch.

According to Apple:

After a software update is installed for iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, watchOS, and visionOS, it cannot be downgraded to the previous version.

What you can do about this:

Open Settings ➢ Accessibility ➢ Display & Text Size, then toggle Reduce Transparency = on.

Also in Settings ➢ Accessibility ➢ Motion, then toggle Reduce Motion = on.

Also in Settings ➢ Display & Brightness ➢ Liquid Glass ➢ Tinted.

In addition, you can provide ⇢ Product Feedback.

If enough requests are made, your feedback might help with future development, like a toggle in the settings.

Good luck! 👋🏼😉

There has never been any supported way to revert back to any previous iOS version. If you want to tone down the Liquid Glass effects, you have options here that you can use.

Also you may see some additional adjustments in iOS 26.2, but currently it is still in beta, so we cannot comment on any of the changes found there. You may just need to wait and see for those.

I cannot use my phone anymore since the autoupdate of 26.2. It is gives me headaches and is awful. I have done all things in settings that are recommended for those with visual sensitivities. I have always used iPhone but am now considering moving over to android. My phone is giving me headaches and making me nauseous.

You may want to research that further, Android 16 was just released and mimics Liquid Glass with the same transparency and blur effects. The only difference is that they call it Materials Design 3. Check out the Samsung/Android support sites and ironically you see the same posts saying users are now going to switch to the iPhone.

There are other options for you such as the Jitterbug phone that still offers a flat UI design, although the features are limited it still may be a better choice than a traditional Android phone or iPhone if you are having trouble with headaches or visual sensitivities.
