"Read" email's title remains in boldface in iOS 26.1

In the previous non-Liquid Glass version, when I opened and read an email, the title went from boldface to non-boldface. It was an easy way to see what had been read without looking for the little blue dots. In iOS 26.1, I now see that the title of all emails remains boldface, even after having been read. I have checked settings and the boldface is toggled off. Any ideas how to get "read" emails to show up without a boldface title?
