Updates

There’s probably a technical reason for it, but why in God’s name does every update come with display changes? I understand the updates for security reasons, but is there a reason one cannot opt out of the widget changes, display changes, etc?

Because the UI is the backbone of every major release whether you are talking about Apple or even Android in their new Android 16 release that includes transparency and blur effects. Yes it is an Apple or Android engineer that decides the direction and the capabilities seen in any update. You are simply licensed to use the software.
