Chrome not accessing internet on MacBook Air M3

I'm on a Macbook Air M3. Chrome was not able to access internet any more since yesterday. All the other apps were able to access internet.

I did have a mess with a dozen of Chrome entries in the Local Network Privacy setting as in post Chrome not able to access local network, … - Apple Community. This post helped me to clean it up. But Chrome was still not working...

I finally decided to create a new account in the OS. By reinstalling Chrome within this session, the Chrome settings were reset in both accounts... and up and running again in both OS session.

This is a good reason to avoid Chrome. Chrome is a notorious resource hog on Macs. Installing it also installs multiple ‘helpers’ from Google that run in the background, and their purpose is not to help you but to help Google (keep in mind that Google’s primary source of revenue is using your data to drive targeted advertising). Even if you aren’t running the Chrome app, those system extensions are always running in the background. I’d recommend deleting Chrome and all related components.

If you are looking for something other than Safari, consider Firefox or Brave (the latter is based on Chrome code but without the Google baggage).
