HomePod Mini unable to connect to Wi-Fi after update 26.2

Hello folks,

Version 26.2 became available yesterday for my apple devices. My phone and Apple TV's updated without problems. Two out of three Homepod Mini's however did not. These two devices are unable to connect to the home WiFi.

Tried the usual steps:

  • rebooted the homepod
  • Resetted the homepod manually, as the homepods are not reachable through the Home app.
  • For good measure, rebooted my router and switched access points to rule out other network issues.

Unfortunately both my (Windows) laptops are unable to power / connect to the Homepod through USB C, so restoring through iTunes is an issue.

Have any of you experienced the same issues upgrading from 26.1 to 26.2? Are there any other steps available to restore the two Homepods? Your insights are appreciated!

Sincerely,

HomePod mini

For me it was a weird one. I rented a condo for work a few months ago, keeping my main house. I setup the networks to mirror my home setup, but I accidentally introduced a typo for my 5G IoT wifi network. For various reasons, I decided to change my home network to use the typo'd password and as a result I had a few things back at the main house prompt for a new password.

Suddenly, after the 26.2 update (or was it a unifi update just by coincidence?), something prodded every single Apple device at home that was using the 5g network to suddenly get locked out as it was using the old password, which hadn't mattered until now.

To fix, I had to remove each HomePod and Apple TV from the offending network and re-add them, this time with the correct password. It was mostly Apple devices, one or two others, no idea why they didn't all complain when I originally changed the password 8 weeks ago.

tl;dr> try re-entering your wifi password, or removing them from your network and re-adding them. If you're not prompted to enter a password at some point it's not going to fix it, if you've got a similar issue to mine.
