Apple Mail require frequent password re-entry for email accounts

Why does Apple bury problems in Discussions.Apple with NO RESOLUTION? For example, Apple Mail seems to lose the password for all the associated accounts, whether they be Gmail or other types of email accounts. On a fairly regular basis and about every 6 months I must re-enter the password OR the email stops functioning. WHY?? Is this too big of a problem to fix or was this intentional from the beginning?
