Bypass iOS SMS multi-recipient default setting

i’m sure many of you would have experienced this!

You want to quickly send a message to someone so you open the messaging app and create a new message and you select a contact from your list and then start typing but only to realise lately that your phone was expecting to touch a different area before typing the actual message.

I estimate 95% of the SMS/imessages sent are single recipient messaging interface so why cannot Apple use common sense and default the screen focus move straight to messaging area after a recipient is selected - yes 90% common sense is uncommon!
