Apple TV app not working on smart TV

Apple Tv was working fine for us yesterday on our smart tv, but today we are getting this message and cannot find a way to get around it. Sky is working fine and every other app we’ve tried, eg Netflix and Prime so cannot fathom why this won’t play ball.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

We’ve turned everything off and on and the app itself is working on my phone.

Hi,

Now I have a solution to the problem.

I was first in contact with Allente because my Apple TV is connected through them. However, they had never heard that there would be a problem.

They recommended that I contact Samsung.

Samsung did not sound like they knew about the problem either.

But we then did a reset.

It was done via Settings --> Support --> Request Support

What then happens is that 'All smart functions are reset on the TV.

This means that all apps must be configured again.

So it is good to make sure that you have all the login details at hand.

However, it was not clear from the support where the problem actually was

Was it the App? The latest Samsung update? Or something else?

Now the Apple TV works again and everything else.

Thanks everyone. I initially tried to contact Apple TV directly but could not find a direct simple source to do so.

We finally managed to sign in directly via our Smart Tv rather than through Sky but it took a few goes and some patience.

It is hard to understand why it would stop working after months, if not years, of it working with no issues at all.

We've got exactly the same problem here.

Our Apple TV app has stopped working on our Panasonic OLED TV

TX-48JZ1000B.

Working fine one day, the next we get the error message: “Could not connect to Apple TV”

WiFi connection to TV is working correctly and other streaming apps are working as normal (iPlayer, Channel 4 etc)

We’ve tried unplugging TV and rebooting.

Uninstalling the app, rebooting the TV then reinstalling it.

We’ve tried putting a different (Google open) DNS option in network settings.

Changing our Apple password.

Resetting all browser permissions from Apple TV settings (online via a web browser on a PC.)

None of the above have worked. TV has the most up to date firmware and that was updated well before this problem started.

Logging into Apple TV via a PC and web browser works correctly.

I also have the same type of problem.

Apple TV works fine on my iPAD and iPhone

But the first message that appeared on the TV

when I started the Apple TV app was (if I remember correctly)

was that it indicated the box's ID (Allente/Canal Digital) then the message was the same as in the first post.

I have then started to wonder if the Box's ID is hijacked and

that Apple does not approve it being run on multiple boxes with the same ID.

My Apple TV subscription is via ALLENT.
