How do I backup 4th Gen iPod Shuffle songs to iMac 15.6.1 using the Music App? No more iTunes.

How do I backup songs from a 4th gen iPod Shuffle using the Apple Music app to my iMac running Sequoia 15.6.1? It sounds like a third-party app is the only way to go without iTunes. My fear with backing up to the Cloud service is that Apple Music will override and prohibit any music that was not purchased through their subscription service.

This is music from CDs, with the purchased CDs still held as evidence.

The Shuffle is connected with its original cable USB cable. The Shuffle icon shows up in the finder window (but not the contents). The Shuffle is recognized by the Music app and the app does see the songs on the Shuffle. It would be nice to be able to select the songs, drag and transfer, but those days are long gone. It's not Bluetooth. AirDrop doesn't work.
