Apple Music's Shuffle by Album feature is not working on Tahoe
Why is Apple Music such a disaster on Tahoe?
Fortunately, I only upgraded my MacBook Pro, so I'm able to use the previous version of Apple Music to enjoy my library on the Mac mini in the dining room. It has its share of problems, but nothing compared to the step backwards in usability that this ill-considered upgrade has foisted upon me.
The most egregious problem is likely just a bug that might be fixed sometime soon: the inability to use Shuffle by Album.
If I sound jaundiced, I've been reporting (off and on) and majorly annoying bug in the previous version for the best part of three years -- the last track in an album or playlist being played is not recorded as having been played. I've grown used to having to add a random track to play after the end of the album or playlist to overcome this. I don't know if this problem has been fixed in the latest version because the shuffle problem has taken all the wind out of my sails.
Next on my list is the nonsensical decision to make the play controls a separate unmovable window on top of the main window. This renders some of the menu items unusable, most notably Go To Current Song. And, it causes the horizontal scroll bar to appear like a ghost floating in space above the main window instead of along its bottom edge.
I've not personally experienced many of the other problems that people have been reporting because of these ridiculous issues, but I'll check out each update as it comes for the album shuffle issue; until that is fixed there's no way I'm bothering to use this version of Music.
