When checked with the bank the said it was paid for from the Wallet app.

This can occur when someone steals your credit card information and loads it onto their Apple Wallet.

The issue is not with anything Apple related. Your credit card information has been compromised. Contact your bank and have the card closed.

Apple is not a bank. Apple does not approve on decline adding a card to your Wallet. Only the issuing bank can approve or decline adding a card to a Wallet. Apple does not actively participate in the process.

The fraudsters added the card to their Wallet app and the bank approved it, not Apple. Data that the fraudsters entered on their iPhone was sent from your iPhone along with information on the fraudster iPhone was sent to Apple Servers. The servers forwarded the data to the payment network operator (Visa, MasterCard, American Express etc.). The PNO checks for account information accuracy and then declines for inaccurate data or approves the data and forwards it to the bank. Bank then approves or decline the data. If approved, an encrypted token is created that represents the data on your card and forwards the encrypted token to Apple to add to the iPhone. Your bank approved adding the card to fraudsters iPhone and approved the transaction. Apple was not directly involved.

Please contact the fraud department at your bank for assistance with the fraudulent transactions.
