Printers not printing black from Apple devices

All of a sudden both my printers are not printing black? tried multiple documents from iMac sequoia 15.5, MacBook Air Big Sur and iPhone 15 iOS 18.6.2, printing to a cannon and a hp desk jet, colours fine but no black???? any ideas

iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 12.7

no non apple devices print black?

if not then one can only assume the black ink stuff dried up and got stuck or got empty

if it works from other devices then maybe there is something amiss with the drivers from the printer makers that needs to be updated from their website?
