TextEdit cursor not appearing on MacBook Air

Recently, my TextEdit cursor has stopped appearing when I hover over text. It just stays as the regular pointer, which I find pretty frustrating, because it blocks my view of the text and is generally unsatisfying. I used to be able to fix it by clicking and dragging on my desktop, but that stopped working. I'm on a M1 2020 MacBook Air and up to Sequoia 15.6.1. If anyone has any solutions, I'd really appreciate it!

Cursor may disappear if you have another monitor connected, or screen sharing enabled, or enabling Universal Access doing Sidecar. Quit from all open applications and turn off Sharing System Settings.

If the mouse or keyboard is bluetooth, see if using the trackpad and built-in keyboard works any differently after turning off bluetooth through the system settings.

If bluetooth is confused, sometimes the Mac might mistake a nearby paired iPhone for an input device.
