Apple Update caused green line issue. Refused for replacement

I am writing to formally escalate an issue with my iPhone 14, which I have been using for the past two years. I have always trusted Apple products for their quality and reliability, which is why this experience has been particularly disappointing. after purchasing the device, within 7 days, my iPhone 14 experienced a black screen issue immediately after a software update. The device had to be serviced at that time.

Now, after two years of careful usage—with no physical damage, liquid exposure, or misuse—the phone has developed a green line on the display, again immediately following a software update. This clearly indicates a recurring display issue triggered by iOS updates, rather than normal wear and tear.

I contacted Apple Support regarding this issue; however, I was informed that the display cannot be replaced free of cost due to the device being out of warranty. While I understand Apple’s warranty policies, this situation appears to be a software-related hardware failure, not user-induced damage.

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

Was/Is your device Jailbroken? If that's the situation, please be informed that attributing the issues to iOS updates may not be accurate.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

Sorry. You cannot "escalate" the issue on this forum as no one from Apple participates here and we are users like yourself.

Apple has already told you they cannot replace the phone/screen under warranty as it has expired.

Your phone has a hardware failure, which has nothing to do with the software update. Update or not, the screen would have probably failed in the long run. You have two choices: replace the screen or buy a new phone. At this point, me personally, would probably buy a new phone.

I think if it was a software related issue then we would be seeing hundreds of threads about this instead of just yours.

Is it possible that this was emphasized by the introduction of Liquid Glass? Again, we are not seeing a flood of posts complaining about green lines, but if your screen was starting to fail it could be that Apple's new Liquid Glass means you are now noticing it. You may find you can adjust setting to minimize this effect. Read Liquid Glass - Love It Or Hate It - It's … - Apple Community
