Is it possible to save a file say from Adobe App quicker than swiping through long list of options?
Save a Copy" option, which lets you pick a storage location, is what you should look for to save to Google Drive.
By default iPhone shows Apple storage forcing me to go through 8 steps
1. swipe left four times
2. Click on 3 dots
3. to find Google Drive.

If you had those files on other Cloud Drives (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, OneDrive, DropBox, Flickr, box, AmazonDrive, Adobe Creative Cloud etc) Then please log into them before you can access those files on Files App.
Use the Share option on a iPad or iPhone
Alternativel, download either Pages, Numbers or Adobe Reader on your iPhone. "On my iPhone" will get enabled automatically.
Save it to "On My iPhone" under the Files App
Probably you have not explored enough.
