archive mis behaviour

archive mis behaviour

using Mojave on iMac, how do i stop emails going to archive? mailbox behaviurs on Mojave not helpful. Problem occurs with a googlemail email address but not with others such as @btinternet or @icloud

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.14

Open Mail Preferences and select "Rules" from the tabs. This image is from Mail in Mojave 10.14:

Select each rule and then click EDIT to see if it reflects items with a .gmail address. If so, either edit or delete that rule.

Google's implementation of IMAP is horribly non standard.

There is no "archive". What you're seeing that's called Archive in the mail client is actually the All Mail "folder" in gmail. Technically, there are no folders at all on Gmail. Only 'Tags' that pretend to be folders. EVERYTHING lives in All Mail.
