Change Window Sizes (Spotlight) in Tahoe 26.2

Is there a way to resize certain windows in Tahoe (26.2). It seems as though Apple has forgotten that there are people using Apple products on something other than a phone. All of the dialog windows are tall and skinny and you cannot drag to make wider -- only taller. For example, the Spotlight search results window will only let you pull down but not over to make wider. Same in System. In System, it is not that important except for those with older eyes. In finder it is a huge problem becuase I cannot expand the window to see the path names and other details of the results. If it is user error, please let me know because this is not the first thing that Apple has done where they keep a capbility but turn it off and hide it somewhere. If this is a "feature" and not a bug -- please post third-party options for at least Spotlight tool that is useable or that digs into the code to tunr on resize left and right. What is the point of a giant, expensive monitor when Apple treats it like a phone?

You are correct that Spotlight and System Settings have a fixed maximum width. However, Finder windows including one showing search results from Finder can be made as wide as your monitor. For example, this Finder search window is 5120 pixels wide on my 5K:2K display – plenty of space to see the full file path and lots of columns of other info, if I wanted to add them.

If you need elements larger to see them, you might consider decreasing the resolution of the display in System Settings > Displays, select something towards the left 'Larger Text' side.

Thank you for the recommendation, but not really a great workaround (especailly for something that was not an issue). Text gets way too small. The finder display does work, but seems like Apple is more about design than useablility. Spotlight used to be a great feature now it is bloatware that sort of works sometimes and I do not think I am alone in that. Another example, for at least the last two versions of the OS, I have never been able to get folders to open as windows instead of tabs no matter what I try. The convergance of OSX and iOS really needs to halt.

I want to be able to resize ANY window, not just specific program windows. If I wanted a phone-sized window I would use my phone. When I tried pulling the window up higher it wouldn't budge. This is a significant UI issue, needs to be addressed. A person should be able to maximize a window if needed. I think the only limit on that would be the iPhone connection, it makes sense that the window is fixed. All others should be resizeable.

Setting a lower display resolution would make everything (text, UI, etc.) larger, not smaller.

Mine always open in windows, because I have the setting to open them in tabs turned off. Finder > Finder menu > Settings > General tab, uncheck the box.

As noted in previous responses, Apple controls the UI and the feedback link provided is how to communicate your opinions to them (they don't read these user forums).

Odd, it always works for me...just as Apple says it should.

In the Finder  on your Mac, press the Command key while you double-click the folder.

The folder opens in a new tab or window, depending on your Finder settings.

Edit: it does not work in Column view, because double-clicking a folder in Column view does not open that folder (a single click is sufficient). Command-double-click opens a folder in a new window in Icon, List and Gallery views.
