iPhone 17 Pro's Face ID and Dynamic Island: challenges for users with medical conditions
Comment rather than a question. Just moved from iPhone SE 2020 (No facial ID just fingerprint ID button) to iPhone 17 Pro mainly because of camera improvements. Found: Latest & Greatest, Newly improved is not always the Best.
**1. I have a medical condition condition which causes my neck to tilt my head downwards. No problem with fingerprint ID but Big Problem with Facial ID which wants to see the eyes. Looking at Accessibility work arounds Apple says exist but for the many with issues where the camera cannot clearly see the face/ eyes, a facial recognition only phone such as iPhone 17 might not be what you want.
**2. On my SE 2020 at the top right of pages with apps I have a clear & useful number indication for battery charge remaining (which I like) AND a Separate graphic bar representation of battery charge (which I tolerate). On the 17 Pro I tried to duplicate this arrangement only to first get smaller, Much Less Useful numbers (practically useless) INSIDE the bar status indicator & when there is a 50/ 50 status one number is light & one dark for an illegible combination. I realized the issue when on charge the bar fills with a bright green charging indicator color which again makes the numbers illegible. For those up against the same, stop trying to fix, the smaller numbers inside the bar is culprit #1 but the real culprit is the Dynamic Island which takes up so much space that the numbers inside the bar is just a desperation attempt to include the same info in much less space.
