Apple Music not importing

On my macbook air, after successfully buying and downloading music from apple music, the app "Music" no longer imports any other music files, neither over the menu item "Import...", nor by drag and drop. It simply does nothing.

I have version 1.5.6.11 of "Music" and macos "Sequoia" 15.7.1 which are all up to date.
