Importing in Photos doesn't work anymore

Hello all,

I cannot import anymore pictures in Photos, neither from file of pics on the desktop nor from SD card (clean pictures shot after formatting SD card). The importation sequence can be initiated, the progress bar indicates processing of import is happening and a count of imported pictures is shown, but no photos are imported, neither in Library, nor in Import, nor in New Album. Have also checked the master file where pics are stored, folders of importation are created, but are empty.

Have repaired the Photo library, no change.

Was wondering also if there is any limitation in the number of photos that Photos can handle?

Any hint please?

Apple does not always support the compressed RAW formats, in some cases only the uncompressed RAW is supported..

For some Fuji Cameras is a footnote on the RAW Support page: Digital camera RAW formats supported by iOS 12 and macOS Mojave - Apple Support "3. Uncompressed RAW format only"

What is the image format of the files you are trying to import? Could you give an example filename of a file you are trying to import? What are the Prefences you have set in Photos? Is "Photos > Preferences > General: "Importing: Copy items to the Photos Library still enabled"? And are the options in "Photos > Preferences > iCloud" for iCloud Photos Library still disabled?

Is the date of your camera set correctly?

As a test, launch Photos while holding down the Options key alt, until you are seeing the library chooser panel. Select to create a new library. Then try to import a single photo into this new test library. Does it work, or are the photos also missing from the test library. Compare the file size of the library before and after trying to import. Does the file size change?

Hello,

thanks for the help

date and settings are ok.

Looks like the issue is indeed linked to the format of the RAW photos linked to the JPEG: JPEG+Compressed RAW or JPEG+Medium size RAW does not seem to work. Could understand that Apple cannot necessarily follow on all the new standards, but annoying is that in that case even the JPEG linked to a RAW is not uploaded in the Photos library.

Fine JPEG+ Full uncompressed RAW is ok and properly imported by Photos. I am shooting with a new Fuji camera
