Bluetooth not working on MacBook Air

Hello! The bluetooth on my computer is saying "Not Available" and I cannot turn it on through network settings. I was told to update to Mojave, which I did, and it is still not working? Any ideas on what I can do to get bluetooth working? Thank you!

Sorry, that didn't help.

I would suggest that you try resetting your notebook's SMC. If that doesn't resolve the issue, then I would suggest that you make a Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to have them take a look and provide you with your options.

Not sure why you were recommended to upgrade to macOS Mojave to "fix" the Bluetooth issue your MacBook Air (MBA) is experiencing, but it shouldn't hurt doing so anyway.

Which exact model is your MBA?

Let's try a few things:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Bluetooth. Does it appear greyed out or "Not Available?"
  2. Hold down the option key, and then, click on the Apple Logo on the macOS menu bar. Select System Information... > Hardware > Bluetooth. Does it still appear unavailable here?
  3. If both of the above is true, then I suggest that you run Apple Diagnostics to see if it uncovers anything amiss with your notebook's Bluetooth component. Ref: How to use Apple Diagnostics on your Mac - Apple Support

Hello!

  1. Go to System Preferences > Bluetooth. Does it appear greyed out or "Not Available?"

So in system preferences, when I go to Network and select Bluetooth PAN, it says not connected, and i have no option to connect. In the top bar of my computer, the bluetooth symbol is greyed out, has a line through it, and says not available.

  1. Hold down the option key, and then, click on the Apple Logo on the macOS menu bar. Select System Information... > Hardware > Bluetooth. Does it still appear unavailable here?

It says "No information found"

  1. If both of the above is true, then I suggest that you run Apple Diagnostics to see if it uncovers anything amiss with your notebook's Bluetooth component. Ref: How to use Apple Diagnostics on your Mac - Apple Support

I ran diagnostics (shut down computer, held down D on reboot) and it didn't come up with anything.....

Thank you for your help!
