Make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple Store or take it to your local Authorized Service Provider. They will examine it and explain your options.

If your system is covered by AppleCare+ then
Here is the excerpt from the web page that may be of interest to you:
"AppleCare+ for Mac extends your coverage to three years from your AppleCare+ purchase date and adds up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to a service fee..." If you don't have AppleCare+ then I agree with Allan Jones that your homeowners or renters insurance may provide coverage. Some credit cards also provide accidental damage coverage, so you may want to pull up the terms if you used a credit card to pay for the iMac.
To your question #2, take-apart images of that model suggest the display and the glass are integral--you can't replace the glass without replacing the display. Plan for a big, painful expense.
If you have homeowners'/renters' insurance, many of those policies cover damage to your tech gear. It may be you only hope of financial relief, subject to the usual deductible.
