audio out of sync with video in itunes/quicktime player/apple TV

Hi guys. I've been trying to play a video on my apple TV, I noticed a video lag of around 1-2 seconds (noticeable enough to be annoying) I played it via tunes on my iMac, same issue, and the same through Quicktime player.

I decided to 'fix' this by opening it in Premier Pro. I played it back and there was nothing to do the audio and video synced perfectly.

any ideas what's happening?

Using iMac 27inch 5k Retinal Display

running macOS Mojave 10.14.5

iTunes Version 12.9.5.5

Quicktime Player 10.5

and 3rd gen Apple TV 7.3

Strangely not all files are affected, I may just have to watch it via Premier Pro, not an idea solution but it's all I can do atm, I may download VLC and give that a go.

any help would be appreciated

Best

Sync issues do not have a universal fix, and the file may have to be edited and exported again.

The video and audio may start at different moments, causing a sync issue if programs read/interpret that differently. It shouldn’t happen with standards compliant files and formats. But when it does happen, it is often easiest to edit the audio, by adding silence and/or cutting, to make video and audio start at the same time and have the same length, while being in sync. Then any program should play it fine after that.
