keynote keeps going blank during presentation

My keynote keeps going blank during presentation. I use the iphone as a clicker. I have to keep pressing esc and return to play mode but after a few slides, the same problem persists.

Everything works fine during testing the day before.

I am wondering what the cause is:

  • file size too big?
  • copying some slides from previous keynote presentation?
  • mac/iphone going to sleep mode during the talk?

Appreciate advice on this! Thanks.

Good morning Wloe!

I understand that Keynote is displaying a blank black screen when you are presenting your presentation.

First, make sure the issue isn't with the MacBook going to sleep after a set time has passed. Check the sleep settings by following these steps: Use the Energy Saver settings on your Mac - Apple Support Be sure to check the duration for both the Power Adapter tab and Battery tab.

If the display is still going black before the duration that you have set has passed, try isolating the issue by testing in a new user account. The following article will walk you through these steps, including trying in safe mode. When you create the new user to test the issue in Keynote, try with content you have already created and with newly created content: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support

Have a great day.
