how do I remove a downloaded album from my apple music library?

I have dowloaded a number of songs into my Apple Music LIbrary on my Apple Music subscription. How do I delete these songs from iCloud? I am interested in freeing up storage on my iPhone. I am assuming that deleting songs from the iCloud Music Library would make more storage on my Devices.

iPhone 7, iOS 12

You’re welcome and the questions aren’t foolish at all. It takes time to get the hang of it

You can use either the + or the three dots to add to library.

When you want to add an entire album or playlist, use the top button that says “ Add +”

you said

”Also, on my iPhone, under, "Settings-Music-Library", I have the, "Add Playlist Songs" turned on. I rather guess that all my songs added to playlists are also downloaded. Is this correct?”

EDIT:

iNo . You’d use settings- Music - Automatic downloads, to download everything you add to your library

The option you are referring to is to add everything you added to playlists gets added to library. The library shouldn’t use space since it’s saved to iCloud. Downloads use space

A long press is a press and hold, not a quick tap - do that once you see the album thumbnail - press on the picture.

  • You can add songs to playlists without adding to your library use the add icon not the cloud if you just want to add without downloading
  • you may have automatic downloads turned on which will download everything you add to your library.

See: in settings - Music - downloads - automatic downloads- turn it off if you don’t need that

I have mistakenly "downloaded" many songs into my iPhone from the Apple Music Library. They are consuming space on my iPhone. I need to entirely delete the songs from my iCloud Library and add them to my Library again. If I delete an album or song from the Music Library, and, if I add it again without downloading it, I still get a downloaded song or album. Which means it is still taking storage on my iPhone and computer. How to I proceed to be able to add it again without downloading it again? I do believe I must remove it from my iCloud Library. What is a long press and album? How do I long press?

Thanks for the information! Is the Add ikon the "+ "? If I want to add a song to a playlist without downloading it to my Library, is this the right button to press, or do I go to the three dots, "..." and add it to a playlist? I am interested to add to the playlist without downloading it to the Music Library, as I am trying to save space.

Also, on my iPhone, under, "Settings-Music-Library", I have the, "Add Playlist Songs" turned on. I rather guess that all my songs added to playlists are also downloaded. Is this correct?

In spite of the foolish questions I am asking, I am grateful for the help and information.......
