Setting up

My husband had an Apple Watch ages ago, he lost it, then got two new phones, we recently found the watch and he gave it to me (after forgetting the passcode) so I reset the watch but now it is not letting me update it because it’s still connected to his old account (which he has no idea what the password or email address is! Even I can’t work out what the email address could be!

Does this mean we can’t use the Apple Watch?

If you are hitting Activation Lock, tied to his Apple ID the only solution is to remember at least the user name (email) so the watch can be released. It is possible he is still using the relevant ID on his current iPhone, so you might have a starting point there. More useful info in the links below.
