Can I use MacBook charger with iPhone XS?

we've just got some new phones in the house, a xs and a xs max.

we were wondering, as they for some reason only give you a 5w charger as standard, we have a MacBook charger that is a 29W USB-C type.

And we have a USB-C to lightning cable that I bought separately.

So we were wondering can we use the 29W MacBook charger to charge our phones as a fast charger?

Last phone we had were 6s', and we were always told that using a laptop charger would be bad for the battery.

You can safely use the 29W USB-C charger for an iPhone XS.
