mojave 10.14.6 issues - preview, screenshot, Final Cut Pro X

Hi everyone,

I just updated to Mojave 10.14.6 today, from previous Mojave update (I update usually within a week of an update coming out), I am on:

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)

3.2 GHz Intel Core i5

16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Macintosh HD

AMD Radeon R9 M390 2 GB

Since I updated the following is happening:

  • Screenshot
    • This is set to save on my desktop, it's no longer saving anywhere I can find it, and the setting is still to desktop
  • Preview
    • Not opening via double click on an image file, I have the default program for image files set to preview, however, Preview will open from my dock
  • Final Cut Pro X
    • When open for a little while and I've been working (time decreasing each time I open FCPX), when I try to change something within a project, or move between projects, I am getting a little box saying it can't find my library and will shut down anything associated.

Any thoughts? Of course, I didn't do a time machine prior to this update as it was only a small increment (I thought....)!!

Thanks

Shannon

Yeah should always do a backup before installing any updates.

Anyhow try this, https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2010?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

this is the 10.14.6 Combo installer, its okay to install over an existing install of 10.14.6, it won't do any harm.

The Combo is often recommended over the incremental 'delta' updates as it resets some system files and caches,

this may help with your problem.

Have you run Disk Utility> First Aid to check for errors, if errors are reported you need to boot to your recovery drive and run Disk Utility> First Aid until all errors are cleared.
