so i am paying for the family plan on apple music and it only works on my phone and not any of my family members phones. why is that?

Have you set up Family Sharing? You need to define the group, by the Apple IDs of the other group members.

Did you change the subscription type to Family subscription?

Get an Apple Music Family subscription - Apple Support


Do the other have their settings right on their devices?

Settings﹥Music﹥Show Apple Music and ﹥iCloud Music Library should both be on.
