virus and trojan notice

I have received pop up notices of 3 viruses. How do I know it's not fake?

It is fake. No one outside your computer can scan your computer for viruses. There are no know viruses that affect Macs. If you want to check for adware/malware, try downloading this program which was written by Thomas R, a long time poster. The program will search for malware/adware. The program will do the work for you which makes it easy. It may be necessary to run more than one scan. After running the scans, restart the computer.
