Safari Adware

Safari opens windows with notice of virus infections, contact apple support, requests to download various updates, etc. I have run etecheck (copy attached) and remove unsigned software flagged as probably adware but the problems returns. I have gone thru the process several times without fixing the problem. There are several more unsigned programs that I can not verify. They are suspicious because the install dates are recent and align with the start of the problem.

/Library/launchagents/com.PN4Of.plist

/Library/launchagents/com.MacPerformance.plist

/Library/launchagents/com.frisure.pf.plist

/Library/launchagents/com.utilityData.plist

Just want to check with the community before removing any additional software.

Thanks

Dennis

Scams.

About Email and Other Scams

Apple always addresses you by your name or the name they have on file for you.  The Email will be from apple.comor itunes.com. Email addresses can be spoofed. You can go to Mail > View > Message > Show all Headers to see more. Apple Emails will never contain an attachment. Apple will never request personal information such as Social Security numbers.

An exception to the above is when you order something from the Apple Store. The receipt will be addressed to Dear Apple Customer.

The Etrecheck report looks fairly clean. There shouldn't be a problem removing the programs you posted.

You can also try downloading this program which was written by Thomas R, a long time poster. The program will search for malware/adware. The program will do the work for you which makes it easy. It may be necessary to run more than one scan. After running the scans, restart the computer.
