Cannot add google account

I did a clean reinstall to my macbook today but after that I cannot add my google account back. It tells me that google need to open safari to verify the authentication. Click the button "open safari", it opens safari and nothing else happens, just OPEN THE SAFARI ALONE. And the button grays out, what I can do is just click cancel. I am getting mad of it already, please help. By the way it's macOS 10.14.6 and safari 13.0

Solved! I just re-installed Mojave 10.14.6 and then I was able to log in my Google accounts. After the re-install, when you hit the button "open Safari" in Mail you get a window that allows the Google authentication.

Hope that helps

I've got exactly the same question. I googled and found that the same issue was reported for 10.14.4 but no real solution/patch.

I also deleted some files in the Keychain but, if possible, I made it worse.

Nos I can access my Gmail accounts only via browser, which is not very comfortable.

In my opinion, Mail is a bad and old application.
