According to other similar complaints here on this forum, the oldest iPhone that will pair with a watch running WatchOS 6 is the iPhone 6s. You might want to ask the dealer who sold you your watch for advice.
You have 14 days to return your Apple Watch for a full refund.
You can consider getting a used iPhone 6s. They will not be very expensive these days.
Of course if you want a new iPhone, they are also available 😀
Personally, unless you want an excuse to get a new iPhone, I would return the Apple Watch for a full refund as soon as possible. You can always buy it again in the future should your iPhone situation change.

That is correct. The Apple Watch 5 requires an iPhone 6S or later running iOS 13.
