Thinking about purchasing 2017 macbook air

I'm considering purchasing a 2017 macbook air from an authorized reseller because I do not have the budget for the new macbook air. My concern is that the software will become outdated within a year or two and will cause the laptop to run slowly. Any thoughts?

Personally I wouldn't be concerned. I have a 2016 MacBook Pro and am not concerned about it.

Another thing that may be of interest is that Apple is releasing the next version of macOS next month and it will be compatible with MacBook Airs from 2012 and later. See: macOS Catalina - Apple
