spotlight search field in iPad OS 13.1

Hi,

I just updated to iPad OS 13.1 and it seems that the Spotlight search field doesn't show anymore when I swipe down from the middle of the Home screen. The only thing I get is notifications (or widgets when I swipe from left edge to right, after swiping down).

Am I missing something?

Of course it is possible to get into Spotlight when I use the hardware keyboard shortcut CMD+Spacebar, so it is still there, but it would be nice if I could get there without the keyboard as it was in iOS 12 (and is in the documentation for iPad OS 13.1 on the Apple website)
