Shortcut to open a spreadsheet in iOS 13.1

Is there a way to create a shortcut to open a specific spreadsheet in Numbers on an iPhone X in iOS 13.1? I use this spreadsheet a few times a day a few hours apart

Hi Knack,

I haven't had the data loss issues you describe. I do the large part of my data entry via forms.

I am not on iOS 13 yet (waiting for the bug reports to settle down) but it sounds like you are looking in the right places for Siri.

Have you tried opening your file from the Files app? You could set it up to display Recents so your file should be easy to find.

Hi Knack,

I am trying to figure out how you are currently opening your file and how many steps you are trying to save.

I am on an iPhone 8. I use a couple spreadsheets every couple of hours. They are both stored locally on my phone. To bring up the last one used, I simply open Numbers (I keep it in the dock). IfI am switching docs I use the back arrow in the upper left to take me to Numbers Recents and select my spreadsheet from there.

Sometimes I leave it open in the background, but have found that doing so Numbers sometimes loses the last entry, date - time I last took a pill. It just disappears even though I click on DONE at the top. So I've started just exiting Numbers. When that happens I go to my Apple Others folder and open numbers and then select the file to open. I don't do much in spreadsheets, so it is just one of a few files and always listed in the current or last files opened. But with the new shortcuts in ios 13.1.1 I figured it might be easy to set up a shortcut and just say "Hey Siri, open Norco", but have found it is not that straightforward or direct to do so. That's why I'm asking, How do you set up a new shortcut to open a specific filename in ios 13.1.1

I do see that Siri does respond to "Hey Siri open Numbers" but figured I'd try to go a step further with the actual file opening. "Hey Siri open Norco in Numbers" she returns "I didn't catch that"

I found that “Hey Siri open Numbers” works. My file is on screen under Recent so it’s easy enough to click on. I just wanted to get fancy with the new iOS and couldn’t figures out how. just one command and badaboom. I’ll have to settle for a two step shuffle. Just two columns, Date and Time. Though I should try to add an alarm for the next pill time so I don’t forget and have to put up with extra pain after it’s worn off

Hi Knack,

I could set a visual alarm in Numbers but the app would have to be open to see it.

I haven't upgraded yet but when I do I will be checking out the revamped Reminders App. My app only allows 1x/day. There may be others i the app store that would work. You might check out using the Calendar, you can set to up to send notifications. Don't know how you would check off a dose when taken.
